Two weeks ago Dr. David Pankiraj  came to Berlin to visit us.

He is the pastor of a catholic parish near Pforzheim and is very committed to support the project “India Trust – Home for the Children” in the small town of Sivagangai in the south of India. India Trust looks after girls whose family background doesn’t give them access to education and thus to a self-determined future. In bitterly poor rural India, women are at the bottom of the social ladder and are affected worst by poverty and neglect.

To improve these unworthy living conditions, India Trust built a school residence in Sivagangai.

69 girls between the ages of 11 and 18 already live there. They go to the nearby school and shall also be supported on their way to vocational training in the future. For this purpose, India Trust plans to build another residence for the older girls, where they can prepare for their graduation and live during the following professional training.
